Guillaume Daussin
It was around the age of 10 that my passion for philately was born: my father brought me an old cardboard box of a radio alarm clock from the 80’s containing stamps cancelled on their paper fragment; the first stamps of a collection that was to grow.
A few years later, I was proud to receive the stamp album of a great-grandfather who had passed away: a handmade Italian-format binder containing many classic cancelled stamps of the world. A treasure for this teenager who discovered the beauty of engraved stamps.
As an adult, I was entrusted with a great-uncle’s collection, which included an album devoted to the stamps of the former French colonies. It was love at first sight for the richness of the colours, for the variety of cancellations, but also for the testimony of a geopolitical history seen and told by the French State.
It is by wanting to take up the torch of this philatelic work on the former French colonies that I conceived the luxurious products of Castellum Editions.

Why did you create the Castellum editions?
A stamp collection is the result of the philatelist’s passionate work. Each collector has a personal motivation, but it is part of a relationship with beauty, rarity and history. As the collection grows with new items, the philatelist increases his knowledge of the subject of his collection and his demand for quality stamps.
Sooner or later, every collector has to ask himself the question of whether his work should be continued by his children or grandchildren. The question then arises as to the setting in which to pass on their treasure, their heritage.
Several publishing houses offer a very complete range of material dedicated to French stamp collecting. However, stamp collections relating to the Former French Colonies are not as well covered, forcing the philatelist to make default choices for his material.
Castellum Editions was founded to offer an alternative based on beauty:
